Data Deletion
Your network is yours to keep — or to delete. Here's exactly how account and data deletion works at Parichay.
On this page
1. Overview
Parichay is built on a simple idea: your network is not a data product. The digital card you build, the contacts you scan or save, and the tags and notes you attach to them belong to you — not to us. That ownership has to mean something at the end of the relationship, not just at the start. If you decide Parichay isn't for you, or you simply want a clean slate, deletion should be as easy as signing up was.
This policy explains, in plain language, how to delete your Parichay account, what happens to your data when you do, what small set of records we're legally required to keep and for how long, and how deletion behaves when your card or contacts have already been shared with someone else. It applies to free and paid/pro accounts alike, across our iOS, Android, and web apps.
This page should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect and why, and our Terms & Conditions, which govern your use of the service. Where this page and the Privacy Policy overlap on retention, the specifics here control.
2. How to Request Deletion
Account deletion is self-serve — you never need to wait on a support ticket to leave. There are two ways to do it:
In-app (fastest)
Open the Parichay app, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account, confirm your identity (you'll be asked to re-enter your password or complete your device's biometric/PIN check), and confirm the deletion prompt. Because you're already signed in, this path requires no further verification and takes effect immediately.
By email
If you can't access the app — a lost device, for example — email info@azapi.ai from the email address registered to your Parichay account and state that you want your account deleted. We verify that the request came from the account owner (see Section 9) and process it manually, typically within 2 business days. Requests sent from an unregistered email address, or made on someone else's behalf, will not be actioned without additional proof of identity.
You can also start the conversation through our contact page if you'd prefer a form to a direct email.
3. What Gets Deleted
When your account deletion completes, the following are permanently removed:
- Your account profile — name, role, company, phone, email, and login credentials
- Your digital business card(s), including any custom links, layouts, and share settings
- Your saved contacts, along with any notes, tags, and folders you created for them
- Scanned paper business-card images and the structured OCR data our AI scanner extracted from them
- Any other photos you uploaded (profile photo, card artwork, logo, etc.)
- Your in-app usage history and activity tied to the account — for example, view counts, exchange history, and CRM sync logs
Once this process finishes, there is no "recycle bin" or grace-period restore inside the product — deletion is intentionally permanent, in keeping with the same principle that lets you export everything, free, at any time: your data doesn't need us to keep a shadow copy around, because you already control the copies that matter.
4. What We Retain and Why
A very small, defined set of records survive account deletion, and only because law or legitimate security practice requires it. We do not use these residual records to rebuild your profile, market to you, or restore your account without a fresh sign-up. Anonymized analytics are aggregated in a way that no longer identifies you or your device.
| Data retained | Retention period | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Invoices and billing/payment records | Up to 8 years | Indian tax and accounting law (GST/income-tax record-keeping requirements) |
| Fraud-prevention and abuse logs (e.g. flagged accounts, chargeback history) | Up to 2 years | Protect Parichay and other users from fraud, abuse, and security incidents |
| NFC physical card order and shipping records | Up to 8 years | Fulfilment, warranty, customs, and tax record-keeping |
| Anonymized, aggregated product analytics | Indefinite | No longer personal data — cannot be traced back to you or your account |
Full detail on legal bases and retention is set out in our Privacy Policy.
5. Effect on Shared Data
Deleting your account removes your data from Parichay's systems — it can't reach into places you've already shared it. If you sent someone your card link, showed them your QR code, or tapped an NFC card against their phone, a copy of what you shared at that moment may still exist on their device — cached in a browser, saved as a photo, or stored in their own contacts app — until they choose to remove it. Parichay has no ability to remotely delete data that has left our systems and landed on a device or in an account we don't control.
The same is true in reverse: contacts you scanned or saved with Parichay and then exported to your phone's native address book, or pushed to a connected CRM, are not "recalled" from those destinations when you delete your Parichay account. Those exported copies now live independently of us — you'll need to remove them from your phone or CRM directly if you want them gone too.
6. Deletion Timeline
Deletion isn't instantaneous everywhere at once — here's exactly what happens and when:
| Stage | Timing | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Account marked for deletion | Immediately | Login is disabled, your card and profile stop being shareable, and the account is queued for erasure |
| Primary systems purged | Within 7 days | Profile, cards, contacts, notes, tags, scanned images, and OCR data are erased from production databases and storage |
| Backups purged | Within 30–60 days | Encrypted backup snapshots that included your data are rotated out and overwritten |
Between the moment your account is marked for deletion and the completion of the purge, your data is inaccessible to you, to anyone you shared a link with (new views), and to Parichay staff outside of the automated deletion process itself.
7. Deleting a Single Contact vs. Full Account
You don't have to delete your entire account to clean things up. From inside the app you can, at any time:
- Delete an individual saved contact, along with its notes and tags
- Delete a scanned paper card and its extracted OCR record
- Remove a photo or attachment from a specific contact
- Archive or unpublish a digital card without deleting your account
These actions are immediate and independent of the full-account deletion flow described in Section 2 — your account, login, and remaining data stay intact. Full account deletion is only necessary when you want to leave Parichay entirely.
8. NFC Card Data
If you ordered a physical NFC business card, the order itself creates a fulfilment record — shipping address, order number, and payment reference — separate from your in-app account data. Deleting your Parichay account removes the account and the digital card the NFC tag points to, but the underlying order and shipping record is retained for the period set out in the table in Section 4, purely to satisfy fulfilment, warranty, customs, and tax obligations. It is not used to reconstruct your profile or contacted for marketing after your account is gone.
9. Verifying Deletion Requests
Because deletion is permanent, we take reasonable steps to confirm a request actually comes from the account owner before we act on it. In-app requests are already authenticated by your sign-in session and a password or biometric re-check at the moment of deletion, so no further verification is needed. Email requests are matched against the email address on file for the account; if the email doesn't match, or the request looks unusual (for example, sent shortly after a password reset or from a new device), we may ask for additional confirmation — such as replying to a verification email or confirming details tied to the account — before processing it. This is designed to stop someone else from deleting your account out from under you, not to make deletion harder for you.
